**Rare Colt Marshal Revolver 4" Barrel

.38 Special. 4" barrel length. SN: 836451. (Mfg ca 1954) Blued metal finish with polished hammer flanks, matte edges, and mounting checkered walnut {Colt Medallion} grips. Double action hand ejector six-shot revolver mounting topstrap notch and matted front blade sights with rounded butt indicative of the Marshal frame. Left barrel marked COLT MARSHAL/.38 SPECIAL CTG. with the right showing single line address reading COLT'S MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. Sideplate is struck with the {Rampant Colt} logo. Standard VP monogram proof appears to the left forward web of the triggerguard. J initial to the left rear triggerguard web. Interior frame shows the M stamp, and two J initials. Colt's Marshal revolver comprised a Colt Official Police with a round butt frame. This model was offered from 1954 to 1956, during which only approximately 2,500 were manufactured, making it a rare variant of one of Colt's most successful designs.
